WHAT IS HEADGAMES?
HeadGames will custom tailor automated lip-synch and rotation control data for import to Electricimage, Lightwave, or Maya using the Morph or Blend interfaces. In plain English this means fully automated control of the model's head, making your character animation move much faster.

Emphasis and De-emphasis controls allow fast batch customizing of lip-sync data to yield greater characterizations with your models.
Lip-sync data comes into your animation package as Splines, which offers the animator much greater control. This data is also fully editable which has many ease of use and significant speed benefits.

- Where do I get the raw data that HeadGames converts?
Mimic by Daz, or Magpie Pro by Third Wish Software.
Mimic has a powerful engine for conversion of audio tracks into raw data. It is simple, fast and inexpensive. Although it is limited to 6 main poses, they do an excellent job of delivering a wide range of expressions. The most important feature is that the delivered data is time-accurate, this means your data out of HeadGames will sync up with your audio with no time tweaking by the animator. And this program has about a 30 second learning curve! Mimic runs on Mac and Windows, and a free copy of the Windows version is included with HeadGames for Maya and EIU. The Mac version can be purchased from Daz3d.com.
Magpie which is on both Mac and PC offers the potential of far greater control, but that comes with a much greater effort and learning curve then Mimic. And the animator has to decide if the added control will give better job for its efforts. Magpie has become a standard for speech in the industry, and HeadGames brings it to the EI user.
- Does HeadGames work with other Lipsynch programs?
There are also much higher-end recognition or MoCap solutions out there that generate far more data. These are available as a service if you do not wish to buy the expensive hardware yourself. We are looking into compatability with these systems.
- Can Headgames use the head movements generated by some programs?
Rotation data for the head and eyes can be imported to your application from HeadGames in various ways including Spline Data, Custom Frame data, or 3dNY's MARS technology.
- What is MARS Technology?
MARS Technology (Morph As Rotation System) will allow you to bring in rotation Spline data and control a model's head rotations thru your Morph or Blend windows. This means that all facial expressions, lip-synching, head and eye rotations can be controlled thru one window! This is an amazing productivity boost to the character animator! Our MARS Technology will be the preferred method in most cases when you bring in pre-generated rotation data.
