Here are some quotes from a review at the popular site CG Underground. The "Maya|Multi-Pass Rendering" MediaBook was reviewed by Wes Burke, CGU founder:

"...this day I was in for a treat. My first indication that this was going to be a different experience was the words 'media book format' written on the DVD case cover. I was pleasantly [surprised], 'interactive education segments' caught my interest. I would learn later, first hand, how cool they actually are."

"...the introduction videos to this media book will get you started on the right track in under 10 minutes. ...Lance Evans lays out every thing you need to know right in front of you. You know what you're doing, where you're going, and how you're going to get there. Mr. Evans does this quite nicely and keeps it up through out the book. Like with any great learning experience you gain a solid foundation and continually build upon that base."

"The tutorials are amazingly well thought through and well executed. The interactive segments were great to work with."

"Mr. Evans emphasis on how to create scenes and renderings and not just push buttons is refreshing."

Imagine our excitement when we heard that the digital publishing industry's oldest and most respected magazine asked to include 3DNY on its list of most inspired publishers.

This short list includes names such as Hearst, Scholastic, John Wiley and other long established publishing houses. After seeing our MediaBooks, the magazine felt strongly that 3DNY was taking educational publishing to new and exciting places. The article says of 3DNY: "(the) primary goal is to produce product that is of great value to our community of digital artists." It goes on to quote founder Lance Evans, "A publisher should be--as with an author, artist or playwright--someone who first and foremost has something worth saying."

Below is a large feature article they ran that is an excerpt from our MAYA | Multi-Pass Rendering product. The subject was multi-pass using lighting passes and a range of related techniques.

They had this to say, in part:

"A superb use of multimedia...that substantially increases learning."

"...unlike the typical movie-based instructional video application this one offers the user a completely immersive simulated environment… just like the real application. A series of videos demonstrate the use of the tools…[and the] videos are so well integrated into the interface the full effect is one of both total immersion and instructional simulation. This combination conspires to make one very slick way to learn an application."

"3DNY's [MediaBook] is a great start in a series we look forward to seeing expand."

"The instructional videos have a graceful pace for digesting what can sometimes be perplexing instructions in complex software. What sets these two CD's apart are the way in which they simulate the actual environment that you are studying to master…we can recommend this product for you with a lot of confidence."

They had this to say, in part:

"Electro303 rates this CD as the best buy"

"This is one of the best educational CDs for Universe. The chapters are easy to understand and contain some very good tips, possibilities and answers to many (frequently) asked questions about character animation setup. If you are a beginner or more advanced this CD completes the understanding of character animation."
